My love of Nail Art started on December 21, 2012. I know... pretty precise right? Let me share a brief history of my nails and how I got to love Nail Art.
I was a nail biter as a kid and then it continued all through my teenage years. In my very early 20's I had a job as a cashier in a supermarket. I have always been a little OCD so having my hands touching money and bloody meats and stuff all the time, there was no way I was going to put my nails in my mouth to bite them. I didn't really pay my nails any attention, and then one day I looked down and saw that I actually had nails! They had grown. I was shocked because I figured I would always be a nail biter. So that crummy job really paid off. That year for Christmas my Mother bought me some nail polish for my new nails. I had fun playing around with it for awhile, but it wasn't really anything that stuck, tho I did stop biting my nails forever. I turned to clipping them instead.
I would put on nail polish now and then for the next 20 years, but I honestly had a hard time with polish. I was far to impatient and they always smudged or smeared. They were never really looking good, and I just wasn't all that girly.
Cut to December 21, 2012.....
I had gone over to my Sisters house for a visit. Our Friend Keely was there. She would come over and do my Sisters nails from time to time. She offered to give me a manicure. Now my nails were really short at the time. I keep them very trimmed. She said she could do it on short nails and that it would look good. So... Why not? I loved what she did! But it's not like I would ever do anything like that myself.
Or so I thought....
Keely's manicure stayed on my nails for a few weeks without so much as a chip or fading or anything. I was shocked. I've never been able to do that. I was intrigued and I liked having something pretty to look at... and so I decided to take it up myself. That's how I got hooked and I do my nails often!!
Keely's Nail collection puts mine to shame!! She has been at it much longer than I have, but I plan on giving her a run for the money. I love getting together with her because she shares great tips with me and she gets as excited about nails as I do now.
So I decided to blog about Nail Art. Share links to tutorials, or places to get things cheap etc. Just a blog to share my Amateur Talent Nail Art.
Kelly
